Smoking views

While outside today taking my usual break, I noticed something that I probably always saw but never really thought about. Fat people.

There are so many different kinds of fat people. There are the fat people who are only fat from the waist down. They have giant turkey legs and disgustingly large asses that take up two seats on the subway and half of a bench that can sit four normal people. Their fat legs are supported by disproportionally small ankles that look like they'll break if those fat people ever tried to do a jumping jack.

Then there are the fat people who are only fat on the top half of their bodies. They look like a wine glass. The one lady walked down the street, and from the waste down, she had on perfectly normal jeans that a normal person would wear. From there upward though, her stomach exploded and collided with her useless tits. She didn't need a bra. Her sacks just rested on her giant tumor of a stomach. Humpty dumpty needs to do some situps.

Three fat black girls walked past me. They were all the same fatness about. They weren't oddly fat like the lower fat and upper fat people that passed earlier. They were normal fat. I was just thrown off because I couldn't comprehend how they could get that fat if they had to walk through the city everyday. I know they're walking. I won't say why, but I know they're walking. I understand being a little chubby if you're forced to walk. That's a product of overeating... but exactly how many buffets and milkshakes does it take to maintain a fatness degree of that magnitude if you're burning 3000 plus calories daily.

Then a skinny asian girl got out of a cab in front of me. She was awkwardly stepping around and I couldn't place why. She had a shoebox in her hand which she threw away immediately. Looking at her feet, I connected the two. She was dressed in business attire, so she was probably on her way to an interview and needed to buy shoes to fit her outfit. Being in a rush, she probably just took the closest thing that she saw that fitted, instead of shopping for 18 hours like most girls do.

The shoes were a size too big. They kept coming off the heel when she took a step, and she would trip over the inch and a half stilleto every time.

At that moment, I bet she wished she could have fatter feet.

Energy

Manhattan is such a high energy place. I'm not sure if it's the nice weather we've been having, or the people themselves, but I find myself happy to walk around. Fifteen blocks? Not a problem.

People that know me well know that I usually agonize walking to my parked car thirty yards away.

Taking the path train in is so much more relaxing than driving. I've done the driving thing. Rush hour is stupid. I'd rather ride a train for an hour than drive for an hour. With that said, my commute is only about 25 min, with a five min or so walk before and after to get to work and home respectively.

I'm kinda disappointed that I haven't run into any stories on the path train yet. Where are the messes on the subway that I always hear about? I guess they are only exclusive to the new york subway system, not jersey's partnership line.

The weather is getting warmer now, and I've heard stories of how beautiful the girls in new york are. I guess in the next month, we'll find out if that's true or not.

Congrats to Jesse on getting hired at my company. Two phone interviews, two face-to-face interviews and 10 people later, he's hired and making way more money than me.

Buy me an ipod fucker.

Clothes

When I was packing my things for New York, apparently I believed that the city would be weatherless. Maybe a little hot, but weatherless. My warddrobe has nothing in it but t-shirts, button downs, jeans and khakis. I have one light zipper hoodie and a track coat.

It's raining today, and raining hard. I don't have an umbrella. I tried to find one of my heavier coats that would actually deflect water, instead of absorbing it all like my hoodie did. My jeans, which are just long enough to drag on the sidewalk, performed osmosis on all the water on the ground and brought it up to my knees. I didn't realize jeans could absorb so much water.

The path train into manhattan was about to leave as I reached the platform. I jumped in at the last moment, a pretty common occurance in any car on the path. I guess it's not a common occurance to see an asian man completely drenched from head to toe, storing rain water in his knees. The beads of rain spattered on my glasses did much to accent the chaos that was me.

I've never bought an umbrella in my life. I own two. One I found after someone left it on campus. Finder's keepers. The other, was given to me when i was interning at atlanticare.

I guess it's time to buy one.

The Results

Thanks to everyone who said happy birthday to me. This tally is only from 5 am to 11pm. My computer that's always on decided to not be on both nights after I went to sleep, resulting aim and any messages people left to be whisked away into nothingness.

Here's a list of people, because everyone likes to see their names:

Joe, Terry, Adam, Tron, Skippy, Jesse, Paul, Brian T, Brian L, Mom, Dad.

I feel like I'm missing one person, but I can't remember who.

Everyone else, you're not my friends anymore.

Begin deletion of buddy list.

My Birthday Wishlist

I do this every year. GO.

Needs

A real warddrobe type thing or a tall bookshelf. Not enough things to put things on.
A new cellphone. Wanted a sidekick, but really no reason to have one considering i'm on AIM at work and at home. I believe I'd lose reception on the subway, so whatever.
A Mac keyboard or a Logitech keyboard that has mac button labels to use on my Work's Macbook Pro. Not sure if work will supply me one, but I will ask later.
A backpack or sidebag so that I can carry things to and from work, hopefully big enough to hold a Macbook Pro safely.
Food in my new house.

Wants

MacBook Pro 17" fully loaded
An Ipod or equiv Mp3 player that has a built in battery and I can recharge
A legal copy of WinXP SP2 for my Work's MacBook Pro, so I can dual boot.
Dodge Viper. On my list, every year.
New Shoes.
A memory stick pro duo 1gb+ for my PSP so that I can store videos on it.
Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini.
24" Flat Panel Wide Screen, Dell prefered, but will take anything with a high resolution and refresh rate.
