Hikaru no Go
I started watching this anime series called Hikaru no Go. It's all about a board game that's kind of like reversi and othello put together, but yet, it's not. At least, I thought it was.
But after watching the first episode where they start putting down pieces and showing aerial shots of the board at intense moments, I don't think I know what the hell is going on. I'm looking at the board like... ok... um, there's some white and black pieces thrown around... they kinda look like half formed boxes and zigly zagly lines. But the intense music dictates that something important just happened.
Nope. I have no idea what's going on. It wasn't even like, hey, this first episode is going to show you what go is about. It's more like, EVERYONE IN JAPAN ALREADY KNOWS WHAT THIS GAME IS, LET'S GET IT ON.
So, i spent like 20 minutes trying to find a site that taught me how to play. I found some rules, and the rules are pretty obviously, you have to surround pieces and stuff and try to cover as much as the board as you can. But, the game doesn't end when you run out of pieces. Technically you can't run out of pieces, you and your oppenent both have to agree that the game is at an end.
What the fuck?
And that's when I gave up and tried to find an actual online Go game. I figure i'd just try to play it and see what happens.
You know, it's really fuckin hard to search the internet when your keyword is "Go".
So, if anyone knows where to go online to play go against a computer in like a flash or java game, please, let me know.
So I can go.
