The Day After My Cali Trip Was Over

Upon leaving the airport terminal, i was greated with a kick in the face by the 90's temperature. Of course, after being in Cali for two weeks, 90's was nothin. The heat in Cali could melt the plastic surgery off any korean on the East Coast. So the temperature didn't bother me, but the humidity did.

I've never felt more instantly disgusting in my life than that one single moment. It was a realization though: Goodbye California. Hello Philadelphia. I frowned.

At least things are green here. Besides the densely populated areas and places of business where they take appearance into consideration and throw on the sprinkler system, there's really no luscious green grass. Pale green, yes. Brown, tan, orangy-yellow shit? Yes. But no green. At least, very little.

I didn't see a single cloud in Cali either. As amazing as that was, it was kind of annoying. Clouds are nice, they're relaxing. How do you lay down on a breezy grass knoll and daydream images of animals and spaceships lofty slowly by in the fluffy clouds if there are no clouds? Getting back to Philly didn't help either, just heat and humidity. The sky was cloudless, but hazy from all the moisture in the air. Welcome back to the East Coast.

And as if the skies knew I was bitter, as if they knew I went two weeks without seeing a cloud, seeing half dead thirsty plant life yearning for a sprinkle of liquidy goodness, feeling utterly intense heat and seeing barely enough ran to make windshield wipers worth using... It fuckin rained. Oh, and i'm not just talkin about any little old rain. It thunderstormed. It banged and boomed and shook windows and walls. It poured buckets of rain all over the place, recharged and did it all over again. It was the best rain ever. It was a rain that said, hi honey, I know you haven't seen rain or clouds in two weeks. This is just for you.
