Open Minded

I got into a heated discussion today on religion. I'm not going to go into details, because I really don't want to explain why i'm right and everyone else is wrong.

But that's exactly what I want to talk about. The religion argument/discussion wasn't really what irked me, it was the fact that everyone there, myself included, wasn't really being open minded.

I will defend myself for a second and say that I was arguing for others to be open minded. But, if I can't be open minded about open minds, close minds, committed minds, and ignorant minds, then am I really being open minded?

To say then, being truly open minded would be to not force my own open minded views on anyway. To be open minded, I would just let everyone be their own mind, not because I don't care, but really, it's the best way for an open minded person to learn about other minds. Just sit back, listen, and (to beat it dead) be open minded.

Why should I try to convince other people to be open minded? Let them have their religion. Let them say it's right or wrong. Even though I was really irked by the unopenmindedness, is it really right to impose open mindedness on others?

The irony of this post is that for me to express my opinions of this topic is to be unopenminded about the multitude of different opinions.

Well, at least I opened my mind a little.
