With Age Comes Wisdom
My top two wisdom teeth grew in years ago. I was a little scared at first, hearing all the horror stories of people having to have their teeth pulled. They talked about how the pain got worse and worse and eventually they just had them pulled out. Others talk about going to their half year check ups and the Dentist just told them that if they didn't pull it out they would be in pain forever.
I grew up thinking that when your wisdom teeth grow out, they have to be pulled. I didn't understand why, in our human growth process, they grew at all.
So one day, while picking doritos or something out the back of my teeth, I came across an usually stubborn piece that just wouldn't come out. After using my tongue, a toothbrush, and my fingers, I finally realized that it was my wisdom tooth. I flipped out.
I was on co-op at the time, I think in DC too, so I didn't have a place to go to pull my wisdom teeth anyway. It didn't hurt. I figured i'd just wait it out. Six month checkups didn't bother me either, I wasn't scared of the Dentist sneaking in my mouth and pulling them out, because I had long since stop going to my checkups.
Now, years later, I have no idea what happened. It feels like my one wisdom tooth kept growing or something and is now so long that I it actually hits the bottom half of my jaw, right where the bottom wisdom tooth should be. But that bottom wisdom tooth hasn't grown out yet. So right now, i'm just stabbing at my gumline. Eating food is hard, hell, closing my mouth all the way is hard.
So friday will be dentist day. I'm hoping he just pulls em out right on the spot. I don't think I could handle making another appointment and pondering for an extended time on what getting wisdom teeth pulled out feels like.
I hope I get some good prescription drugs to abuse.
